Nature in Architecture is heavily based on the human experience of moving within the buildings. The focus is less on the scenery but the relationship all throughout. The main objective for each piece is ultimately, how will the building work and engage with its surroundings?
Architecture is a way to converse between people who never met face to face, but rather, through connections they left behind
Past the world wars, architects were allowed to design based on scale due to the rise in materials and the power of engineering innovations. That led to mass construction and a rise in modernism as large scale destructions impacted cities heavily across Asia and Europe. Since classical designs were not efficient and expensive, a lot of designs shifted to simplicity and safety. Due to that era helping build and develop innovations and ideas, architects are currently shifting towards ecological and biophilic design. It is not exclusive work in nature, but it is a way to bring nature into urban environments.

Nature is deeply impactful in architecture because of its key components to mental and physical comfort. Views of greenery give comfort to people as it automatically helps release relaxation responses. Not only do the views help the people around, but the sensory connection through materials around also helps create a positive relationship with the recipient and nature. Sound is one of the most important components of experiencing a building in nature. The surroundings influence acoustics, which means either the actual building itself can amplify or soften the sounds. The biophilia of acoustics helps influence many parts of architecture, as sound works as a deliberate tool that helps with material choices and layouts because of its focus on human well-being. Strategic residential planning can help with deflecting or enhancing sounds. For example, the placement of trees can help deflect and muffle harsh sounds away from buildings.
Besides just the construction, architecture also serves as footage. Different buildings reflect different beliefs and advancements. One world shows multiple stories. Each structure is physical; it shares a story about the people and the nature around it. Architecture is not a response to societal change, but rather to preserve history. This piece includes representations of the gramophone, the device that allowed for accessible and portable music for the public.
Shifting away from modern urban architecture, this piece is more situated in nature, with more trees and natural entities from the earth. This piece shows how different, unique shapes combined enhance the nature around it. It is used to amplify quiet surroundings. A building doesn’t just occupy a space; it holds the collection of experiences that happened in it. It can hold the values of one generation while welcoming in the next. Architecture is a way to converse between people who never met face to face, but rather, through connections they left behind.
